One of our favorite restaurants in JC! We've dined here many times and some of our favorite menu items include the steak tartare, octopus carpaccio, the scampi pasta, and the layered fries with truffle aioli. In addition to tasty food, their drinks are a hit as well. Bonus points for having a low- and no-abv section of the menu.
I've been to Jane Doe at least 4 times but this is my first time writing a review. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Jersey City, with a high end feel, fantastic food and unique decor. I've never once had a bad meal here. I recently came on Sunday with my husband and was pleased to learn of the $10 classic cocktail happy hour from 12-7pm. You're not going to get a better deal in this neighborhood! The cocktails are creative and tasty and the food is always superb. I recently had the whipped ricotta appetizer, smash burger with the layered potato "fries" (yum) and the prawn scampi with Calabrian chilis. All were divine. Our bartender John, was friendly and even treated us to a complimentary shot, as we were celebrating a birthday. I will ALWAYS recommend this place to my friends and family, 10 out of 10.
Had a great meal here for my birthday. Everything was flavorful and it felt like a great neighborhood spot. Very cool, unpretentious, chill and still kind of upscale vibe. Great drinks, too. I'm looking forward to visiting again!
After two visits in the past six weeks, I have had a very consistent positive experience. The food is great. Cocktails tasty. I like their background sound track which appears as a mix of 80s new rock.
Had the sunflower linguini most recently- what a great marriage of flavor! Pesto based heavy on the garlic which I loved. We started with the whipped ricotta with flat bread- nice consistency and the thinly sliced grapes add a pleasant texture and taste.
Service was awesome. Very attentive- helpful with menu suggestions and prompt.
Overall this has been a nice find as I've only been to Jersey City twice. It's right next door to White Eagle and a great opportunity to combine dinner with live music.
Excellent cocktails and cool vibe. The bartenders are great and the happy hour is a good deal for some of the best cocktails in Jersey City.
Spent a gorgeous evening at Jane Doe before a concert at White Eagle Hall. It was a Tuesday and we did not have reservations and we got seating at this like middle high top seating they have. The main front wall of the restaurant was open and it was a perfect Spring evening. I got a Sakura cocktail and my friend got their version on a R&A old fashioned. They were both very pretty and tasty. I ordered the bucatini sans jalapeños and my friend got the scampi. The bucatini had herb marinated chicken, roasted tomatoes, miso, Mexican crema, cilantro and gran pandano. The sauce was rich and yummy from the miso and tomatoes. It was great I ate all of it. My friend said hers was good but it was spicy. The service was great, everyone was very friendly. The restaurant was busy but not packed. I have been here before on a weekend and we had reservations for a table. Another time we sat at the bar w/o reservation. If you like a fusion menu then this is for you.
Incredible restaurant and experience in Jersey City. Recently came here with a group of 5 friends and it did not disappoint.
First, atmosphere is amazing, the interior design of the place was really well thought out. It feels fancy while still being super approachable and fun. Soundtrack was great too!
Secondly, service was outstanding (I believe Brian was our server). He was knowledgeable, gave great advice, and him and his crew were always checking in on us. All 6 of us really felt taken care of throughout the night, and he threw in some shots at the end for us!
Third, food and drinks were excellent. The table had varying drinks (Mod-Tini (espresso martini), Naked & Famous (mezcal), The Luciana (tequila))…and all were really well done. Fresh takes on classic cocktails, and everyone really enjoyed. Beer selection was very solid too (Yuzu Pils was super refreshing). Definitely share appetizers here as they had a diverse selection and all were tasty! We especially liked the whipped ricotta. Mains were great too, I had pork katsu and some others had the smash burger which was very well liked. Special shout out to the semi-frozen smores dessert that was bomb! One of the best desserts I've ever had.
All in all, GO HERE. It was an awesome experience and I cannot wait to go back. Thank you guys!
